New (or new to me) Gallery Reviews (No. 3)

Here are six more galleries that I recently visited for the very first time. Some are brand new-ish (e.g. opened within the last 12-18 months) and the rest are simply new to me. Some of them I only just learned about even though they may been operating for a decade or more, while others have been patiently waiting for me to come visit. Sorry it took me so damn long!

All of these are permanent spaces (e.g. not pop-ups) but many of them have limited or restricted opening hours.

⚠️ Please be sure to check the venue website and/or Instagram to confirm opening days/times before you visit. ⚠️

If you know of other art spaces that have recently opened, or that I haven’t yet visited, please get in touch.

NORTH

Camden, Kentish Town, Islington, Finsbury, Lisson Grove, Stoke Newington, Walthamstow, etc.

Ben Uri Gallery / @benurionline (📍St. John’s Wood)

Originally founded in 1915, this registered charity / museum has a mission “to record and share the extensive contribution to British culture and society as a whole by the Jewish, the refugees and the wide immigrant communities since 1900.” Shows in the ground floor gallery often spill over into the basement library & research space, which is filled with some amazing art history books and periodicals.

Bolding / @bolding__ (🚇 Edgware Road)

Founded in 2024, this not-for-profit is mainly known for their efforts to stage performance art in unusual or inaccessible spaces, but they’ve got a ‘permanent’ gallery located in Alfie's Antique Market, a cherished venue that is always ripe for exploring.

SQFT Space Gallery / @sqft.space (🚇 Edgware Road)

This modest space, with an even more modest “hidden” back room, is a pet project of Dan Leon, founder of Square Feet Architects, as a way to explore and promote the various artists and interests he and the firm have engaged and collaborated with. It’s apparently been going since late 2023 but has only now just appeared on our radar. We’re glad it did!

WEST

Chelsea,  Kensington, Hyde Park, Notting Hill, Victoria

Brink / @brink_ldn (🚇 Latimer Road)

This single, gorgeously appointed room, with some of the best lit art you’ll see in any London gallery, is a pet project of Richard Parr Associates, an architecture firm with locations in West London and the Cotswolds. Opened in September 2025, there’s no set gallery vision other than displaying work they like from a truly wide range of artists: the current is in his 90s and their debut show was from an artist in their 20s.

EAST

Bethnal Green, Cambridge Heath, Clerkenwell, Farringdon, Holborn, Hoxton, Shoreditch, Whitechapel… basically anything else east of Goodge Street

Glasshouse Contemporary / @glasshousecontemporary (📍Hackney)

With soft pastel walls, soothing music, lots of houseplants and a super friendly host the vibe of this Gallery & Framers is about as far as you can get from an austere white cube experience. From the street it might look like a homewares boutique but there’s plenty of art on display, including racks of limited prints, for you to browse and enjoy.

Zéruì Gallery / @zerui.g (🚇 Blackfriars)

I’m told this venture is about four years old but their current location, one large first floor room with lots of windows, is relatively recent. The owner, an avid art collector, is currently in Beijing so the gallery is operating a Saturday-only schedule until they return.
